Knowledge of God and Knowledge of Self: Why Understanding Yourself Better Helps You Love God and Love Others 

John Calvin, the Father of Presbyterian theology, opens his magnum opus with the following lines: "Our wisdom, in so far as it ought to be deemed true and solid Wisdom, consists almost entirely of two parts: the knowledge of God and of ourselves. But as these are connected together by many ties, it is not easy to determine which of the two precedes and gives birth to the other."  In many circles, the phrase "self-awareness" is becoming more and more common.  But that often raises concern for Christians, after all, we are taught to focus on God, rather than ourselves.  This workshop will explore an approach to self-awareness that is designed to help us grow as disciples of Jesus Christ in order that we might love God and love others more fully.  Registration is not required.
