About the event
Democratic Faith: Barmen, Belhar, and the Politics of Reformed Confession
The Confessions of Barmen and Belhar are landmarks of prophetic Christian witness in that both confessed the gospel and critiqued the powers. Barmen denounced the totalitarianism of the Nazi Reich in the name of the one Word of God. Belhar renounced the racism of the South African Apartheid-state in the name of the one Church of Christ.
But where did these Confessions come from? And what does it mean for us to include Barmen and Belhar in our Book of Confessions?
