Memorial Services and Columbarium Memorial Services If your loved one has died, please call our church office to talk with a pastor about scheduling a Memorial Service. Depending on your preferences, needs, or wishes, we will work with you to provide anything from a private dedication of ashes to a full worship service. We will: Arrange for and/or provide the music for the service Work with you and your family to decide on the service order Provide the bulletin for the service Provide a reception for family & friends (Upon Request Only) Work closely with area funeral homes and/or cemeteries We are here to walk beside you to make this service special for you and your loved ones. WEDDINGS Marriage is one of God’s greatest blessings. Our sincere desire is that weddings performed at Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church will be a wonderful experience for each couple! If you would like to explore the possibility of having your wedding at the church or performed by one of the pastors off-site, contact a pastor. Our pastors are available to officiate at weddings of church members only . The pastor plans the wedding service with the couple and expects the couple to engage in premarital counseling with a professional counselor. We cannot accept reservations for weddings more than 15 months in advance. We are unable to host weddings during busy seasons such as Holy Week and Christmas. We are not able to have wedding receptions on-site. See the Special Services page for more details. Karin Miller, Director of Preschool Ministries Amy Leigh Teele Preschool Art Show Amy Teele was the embodiment of joy. Her zest for life was contagious. Being in her presence brought laughter to your heart and a smile to your face. Nothing seemed to bring Amy down. Her example is one of a life fully and well lived. As many of you know, Amy was not only a beloved preschool teacher, but also a passionate Art teacher, and a devoted Sunday School teacher. Among the events that brought her joy, the annual Art Show held a particularly special place in her heart. This cherished event allows us to celebrate the creativity of our young artists, as their work is displayed for all to see. Each year, Amy would thoughtfully purchase art supplies for the preschool, carefully selecting materials that would spark the imaginations of the children in our care. Few understood the joy of the creative process quite like Amy did. With a unique ability to see the world through the eyes of a child, she knew just how to introduce ideas and materials that would inspire the children to create freely. In honor of her spirit, her dedication to creativity, and her unwavering belief in the joy of childhood and the love of learning, we are proud to announce that our annual Art Show will now bear her name. It is with great joy that we officially rename our annual Art Show in her honor. We dedicate this show to Amy, to the lasting impact she had on all of us, and to the creative spirit she so lovingly nurtured in each child. In loving memory, Karin New Ones Class Opening Dear Preschool Families, We have exciting news! FCPC Preschool is opening a new Ones class this fall! Our Ones will have a soft introduction to preschool with simple, child-friendly crafts, and developmentally appropriate lessons through stories. Together with lots of play and socialization, our Ones will have a great experience. Families will find that all the child-centered components found in our current early learning classrooms will be part of our youngest learners’ mornings. This class is for children that have turned one by September first. The class will run on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9-11:45. Space is limited so register now to ensure your child’s place. The only requirement to join is belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. BECOMING A MEMBER If you have discerned that you wish to become a member of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church, we invite you to take the following next steps. LUNCH WITH THE PASTORS A few times a year, the Membership Committee hosts Lunch with the Pastors, a casual and relaxed gathering for newcomers to learn more about the ministry and mission of our church, get to know the pastors and other newcomers, and learn about church membership. MEET WITH A PASTOR Before you join, the pastors are available to walk alongside you. Reach out to a pastor if you have pressing questions or would like to talk together about your decision to become a church member. FILL OUT A MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION Complete the online application to request church membership. The Session, our governing body, is required to approve all memberships. This application formalizes the process and allows for record-keeping. OFFICIALLY BECOME A MEMBER IN WORSHIP You may join by transfer (moving your membership from another church), reaffirmation of faith, or profession of faith (with baptism if you’ve never been baptized). The pastors will talk with you about these methods and setting a date for joining. SOME FAQ'S Do I have to be baptized to join the church? All members of Fox Chapel Presbyterian Church are baptized Christians. If you are not baptized, you may become a member through baptism and profession of faith. If you have already been baptized, you may join our church family by transferring your membership, reaffirming your faith, or professing your faith publicly for the first time. Contact Pastor Cheryl Khyllep for more information about baptism. Do I join when I get confirmed? Yes. Youth who participate in confirmation classes have the opportunity to decide whether to profess their faith publicly and become a full church member. If a confirmand hasn’t been baptized, baptism happens during the confirmation liturgy. To learn more about confirmation classes at FCPC, contact a pastor. What do you offer for children? We love kids, and we have a vibrant, healthy children's ministry that strives to nurture children and their families to live a life of Christian faith. We believe it is one of the most important things we do as a community of faith, and we take our promises to kids very seriously. Children who join our church with their families are technically not official members until they profess their faith publicly and personally, which happens during confirmation.
